Week 1- Pretend Play
Learning to imagine is the first step in stretching the human potential." -Karen Miller,
Ages and Stages p. 65.
Using
the imagination helps children develop the ability to think abstractly,
to use language to describe things others cannot see, and to empathize
with other people.
Listening is a perfect way to work out the pretending muscle. At home, listen to the song, "Out Here on the Sea" from your digital materials, and become what you hear!
While in the car, ask your child "What do you see? What are the sounds that go with that?"
